The Ministry of electricity aspires to complete regional connectivity projects with four entities. While it renewed its talks with the Saudi side to import energy through the joint interconnection lines between the two sides, the Iraqi-Turkish interconnection line was completed with a maximum capacity of 600 MW. Electricity ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Abadi told Al-Sabah that Iraq is seeking to activate electrical interconnection operations with the Saudi side, noting that there is a great government interest in this aspect.
Al-Abadi revealed the renewed talks to connect with Saudi Arabia through the Arar Al-yousafiya electric transmission lines, and another connecting line to the Samawah station in Muthanna province, noting that the understandings with Saudi Arabia are in the early stages. He added that the electrical linkage project with the Turkish side was fully completed through the 400k line in carrot Mosul, and the 132 line in slobi-fayda, stressing that these lines are ready to connect and it is left to pump power through them only to determine the criteria of the agreement in terms of pricing and quantity Energy paid .
He explained that these lines will be connected to the National processing system of the northern region, and the maximum power supply limit will be 600 MW.
Al-Abadi revealed that the first phase of the Gulf link with Iraq will be ready in the summer of 2022 to import 500 MW for Basra governorate, noting that Iraq has completed 87% of the works of this line through the 132 kV and 400 kV lines and the Al-Faw transformational plant.
He added that the agreement on the tariff includes the cost of establishing lines that should connect 80 km inside Iraq to Al-Faw station and 300 km to al-Zour station

On the linkage project with Jordan, al-Abadi said that this project requires the construction of an existing Risha line, and the construction of the al-Qaim transformational plant 400 KV, which will contribute to the coverage of the western region of Iraq with energy, especially the areas of Al-wetah, al-Qaim and Akashat .
Al-Abadi said that Minister of electricity Adel Karim demanded during meetings with GE that the Working Time Limit be reduced to 13 months, after the process of surveying the soil tracks, studying the linking points, examining the soil and free of War waste and obtaining administrative approvals, adding that the project in its second and third phases to reach 960 MW and With Egypt.
